Graduate Showcase

Welcome to my Master of Arts in Education (MAED) Program Showcase!

This page showcases the work I have completed during my graduate courses in MAED program at Michigan State University (MSU), with a concentration in Technology and Learning. My work focuses on educational foundations, pedagogy, design processes, and learning strategies through extensive research through scholarly journals, articles, academic books, and peer collaborations. Throughout this journey, I have learned to reflect on my practices and the creative process of making these creations.

My page is divided into two sections: Process & Reflection and Creation.

In the Process & Reflection section, you will find examples of the steps I took to explain my thought process during and after the creation of my work. This section also includes a space for me to reflect on my creations to enhance my growth as an educator. This is where I learned to critically evaluate my work, understand my strengths and weaknesses, and to help me identify areas of improvement for myself as a person and educator. In the Creation section, you will find the final pieces of work I produced throughout the program including lessons, an online math course using technology, games, and number talks.

Reflecting on Universal Design for Learning
Critical Design Process Reflection

After the COVID pandemic, I learned to create online lessons for morning access via Google Classroom, followed by in-class instruction in the afternoon. I reflected on how I used the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the mistakes I made in creating my online lessons to create an equitable and inclusive learning environment for all students and develop meaningful lessons.

Process of Electronic Assessment Learning
Process of the Assessment Report

I demonstrated my ability to write a report explaining the process I followed to create a game as an assessment tool. The report includes an explanation of the various research studies used to support the positive impact of my design decisions for the game's components.

Stanford Model of Design Thinking
Process of Design Report

I explored five phases of the Standford Model of Design Thinking: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. Using this model, I demonstrated my ability to write a report that explains how this design process and thinking influenced my ideas and the creation of my work.

Online Math Course Creation
Google Classroom Online Course

After the COVID pandemic, I created 3 topics of online math lessons for grade 3, focusing on Common Core standards: operations & algebraic thinking and measurement & data using Google Classroom. Each morning class, students watch videos to learn concepts and complete fun activities before attending the afternoon classroom session. How-to videos are also provided to guide students in using the technologies needed throughout the online course.

Math Game Assessment Creation
Thanksgiving Grocery Shopping Game
(Download the compressed game folder to play)

I created a math game for 3rd-grade students to assess their understanding of multiplication using a software called Twine. By incorporating real-world application scenarios, the game helps students make meaningful connections to their daily lives. Through this project, I gained insights into evaluating students' learning through games rather than traditional worksheets.

Play in Mathematics
Geometry Lesson Plan Focused on Play

This artifact highlights the theme of play in mathematics. I learned to use play as a way for learners to engage in Geometry content and created a lesson plan. Through various methods of play, students engage in hands-on activities that encourage collaboration and discussion and enhance their vocabulary which are crucial components of effective learning.

Number Talk Slide

Number talk is a short 10-15 minutes of daily exercise with the goal of building number sense. I created this number talk slide to practice with my 3rd-grade students before the lesson started to help guide them toward what we were learning each day and to build number sense.
